Online credit card fraud spreads
After recording 12 cases of credit card fraud in western parts of the city in the last six months, city police have been saddled with a case in Shahibaug. A young trader's credit card was used for online shopping and Madhavpura police are now roping in cyber crime experts to solve the case.
Nirav Modi, a resident of Spectrum Towers, Shahibaug, filed a complaint with Madhavpura police on Saturday for misuse of his credit card on internet for shopping of household items worth Rs 46,721.
Modi got to know of the transaction when he received a bill for the transaction after getting a call from the credit card company. When he got the details, it was for shopping of grocery, washing machine, furniture and small household goods purchased online using his card number and CVV number. More>>

Credit-card gadget lets thieves strike on the sly
They can be hidden inside gas-station pumps, ATMs or waiters' pockets.
While you think you're fueling up, withdrawing cash or paying for dinner, a covert skimming device is pulling and storing your credit card's data. Soon after, a stranger transfers the information to a counterfeit card and goes on a shopping spree -- courtesy of your bank account.
They're cheap, can be bought on the Internet and are difficult to spot. So there's little consumers can do to protect themselves -- short of paying cash.

Police Violence and Abuses in Detention
These monitors should be permitted to conduct confidential interviews with detained children of their choosing, with the consent of the children involved. * The government should itself periodically initiate and/or undertake evaluations of the Guatemalan juvenile justice system, including juvenile detention facilities.
Recommendations regarding abuses against street children:
* The Public Ministry and the National Police should thoroughly and impartially investigate all allegations of crimes committed against street children. The current practice of investigating only those cases on which outside pressure is brought to bear must end immediately.
* Complaints regarding police mistreatment of children should be investigated promptly and thoroughly. Where appropriate, disciplinary measures and criminal proceedings should be ordered. More>>
